6 Football Stadium and Tailgating Safety Tips

  1. Keep it clean:
Tailgating is one of America’s favorite pastimes! If you are tailgating, opt for non-breakable, recyclable containers. Make cleanup easier while helping to avoid injuries resulting from broken glass.
  2. Be smart:
It is all fun -tailgating, watch parties, sitting in the stands, joining your buddies at the bar. Be safe by knowing your limits on alcohol intake. Make sure you have a designated driver.
  3. Know where you are going:
Pre-plan travel to and from the stadium. This way you avoid getting lost and make finding parking easier.
  4. Fill those bellies:
Planning on consuming alcohol? Make sure there is plenty of food and you fill your belly!
  5. Be weather-wise:
If you are heading to the stadium, be sure to prepare for the weather. For colder temps, bring layers and blankets. This is especially true if you are bringing the little ones along. Avoid umbrellas if you find yourself in a lightning storm. Do not turn yourself into a lightning rod. On hot days remember to drink lots of water. Dehydration deflates all the fun out of the day.
  6. Keep it close:
Planning on hitting the live game or the local tavern? Be sure to keep your valuables safe, such as wallets, mobile phones, and purses. Also, keep it close to you (better yet, attached) at all times to avoid theft.

Wherever and however you are watching the game, we hope you enjoy every last minute. Go team!

Gameday Insurance Tips

Here are a few pointers for making sure your insurance provides an extra safety net on game day:

  1. Make sure you have enough auto coverage to cover any possibly stolen items. Unfortunately, break-ins at the stadium parking lot happen. Be prepared.
  2. Ensure you have enough liability coverage on your homeowner’s policy. Check your medical payments coverage and umbrella coverage also have enough liability coverage. These exist to protect you in the event someone becomes injured while at your house.
  3. Consider roadside assistance coverage. It can save the day if your vehicle breaks down or you lock your keys in your car.

Enjoy the game, be safe, and may your favored team win!
